A Legacy of Sun and Sand
Tina Ackerman’s Generational Bond with Cabo
Tina Ackerman’s connection to Cabo is a tale woven from the threads of time, family, and a love that has deepened with each passing year. Her first visit to the coastal town in 1987—prompted by a friend's recommendation—set into motion what would become a lifelong affair with the place. Accompanied by her husband, Randy, the couple fell quickly under Cabo’s spell. It wasn’t long before they bought their first home, a property that would become not just a vacation getaway, but a central fixture in their lives, a place of reunion for their growing family.
Cabo, in turn, has grown with them. The Ackermans’ story is intertwined with the town’s own transformation, from a tranquil fishing village to a bustling, world-renowned destination. Over the years, Tina’s children followed suit, investing in their own homes in the area. Some live there year-round, others come and go, but the homes serve as anchors in their own families’ lives—a generational tether to the sun-drenched shores.
Now retired from a prosperous real estate career in Canada, Tina divides her time between Cabo and her home country, spending six months in each place. Despite the back-and-forth, Cabo remains the heart of her family’s story—a place that holds not only memories, but also milestones. In 2022, Tina’s youngest grandchild was born there, further cementing the town’s place in her family’s legacy.
Beyond the warmth of family gatherings and private retreats, Tina is a familiar figure in the local community. She plays pickleball with regularity, hosts dinner parties that are as much about connection as cuisine, and can often be found at the many live music events that dot the Cabo calendar.
With three bilingual grandchildren, Tina’s affection for Cabo has taken root in multiple generations. The legacy she and her family have built—one that began with a serendipitous trip nearly four decades ago—has grown into something more than just a vacation destination. It’s a narrative of belonging, continuity, and the enduring power of place.
